The annual Lake Superior Ice Festival “Pet Contest” was held during the month of January again this year, we had 47 pets compete in this fun community event along with 225 voters, and we were so excited to see everyone out with their pets at the Coronation Ceremony at Fairlawn Mansion on Saturday, January 27^th.

The Humane Society is incredibly grateful for the continued support of our community, especially those who have nominated and voted for the Northlands Ice Festival Royal Court this year and in past years. Congratulations to our 2024 winners, Canine King: Scrappy Harris, Canine Queen: Lily the Shep, Feline King; Winston, Feline Queen: Maisy, Lord of the Festival: Elmer the Donkey, and Lady of the Festival: Penelope the Pig. Thank you to the City of Superior for including HSDC in this awesome community event for the 4^th year in a row, and of course, we would like to give a special shout out to Twin Ports Built for being our Ice Sculpture Sponsor this year!

A total of just over $9,200 was raised, which exceeded our fundraising goals! These proceeds will help us continue to provide essential life-saving care to the lost, homeless, and abandoned animals at the Shelter.
