Ride for the Rescue
On November 19, 2015, the Humane Society of Douglas County, Inc., received a call from the police stating they stopped a driver who was traveling through town in a truck, pulling a small horse trailer. Inside the trailer was a dead horse and five others that were extremely dehydrated and malnourished. The driver also had three dogs and two cats in the same condition.
After the unexpected take-in of the animals, HSDC sought donations from the surrounding community. In addition to the outstanding community support, the Ride for the Rescue trail ride fundraiser was born. We are proud to host this event again on May 21, 2017, at the Bird Sanctuary in Solon Springs, Wisconsin.
